Fugitive - a tense two player deduction card game, full of close calls and great escapes - all packed into 10 minutes!
Games that play well with two players are hard to come by. The last few years the board game craze has been about family game night, or about a group of friends. We've backed some single player games here at the ranch so certainly there are games out there for the lone wolves. But two player games? Not so many. That's one of the reasons this game caught our eye.
The other reason, the great art. I'm sure that some of you remember the Fugitive movie with Harrison Ford, I'm sure that almost none of you remember the TV show by the same name.
One of the big difference between the TV show and the movie, the Federal Marshall was played by another great actor, Tommy Lee Jones. Side note: the Marshall character was so well liked, they made a sequel using him. It didn't do so well.
That's your background, I hope you enjoyed it.
This game is all about capturing one guy, the fugitive. The art on the cards is fantastic. It's that blocky style that made so many animated shows popular, one that comes to mind is the animated Batman. But that was hardly the first or last. Another bit we like about the cards, they're printed to the edge. This may seem like a small thing, but when you have a dramatic art style, its nice to be able to show it on the entire card, and not have a frame around it. Some games need the frame, to show some of the many attributes. Some go overboard a bit on this, and it obscures the art.
The contents are pretty good considering that we're talking about a two player card game. I think we all know card games that are just the cards. But since the story IS the game, there had to be a few extra bits.
The object of the game is to capture the fugitive, and you do this by cutting off all the avenues of escape until there is only one place for him to be.
There are a large number of stretch goals, but this is a very popular game on Kickstarter, so many of them have already been met.
There are new event cards, and some physical changes as well including our favorite, thicker or nicer cards. The next goal is a bigger box at $125K, but as of this writing they have already met that and well on the way to the next event card.
This game has a lot of potential for quick, fun play between two friends, or couples, at coffee shops or picnics, or any spur of the moment game playing.
We strongly suggest that you click the link below and do as we have done, and back this game.
